Analyses of Zakir Naik

I am not discrediting Dr. Naik entirely. The rule of impartiality and fairness dictates that right is right and wrong is wrong no matter who says it. Having said that, we can conclude that only those teachings of Zakir Naik should be accepted that are compatible with Quran and common sense. For example, Dr. Naik's assertions regarding divorce are in complete harmony with Quran as he vehemently rejects the '' Three Instant Divorces and Halalah". Also, Dr. Naik's defense to Polygamy makes sense as he statistically proves that higher female populated countries that have banned polygamy are at some kind of disadvantage. He also admits that Quran encourages monogamy but for good reasons, has not prohibited polygamy at the same time. Yet Dr. Naik's defense for Bukhari, Saha Sitah, Imams of Fiqh, history and most importantly his affiliation with a particular school of thought are such weaknesses which have not only hindered his ability to exercise keen judgment in comprehending Islam but these weaknesses have also placed him among those scholars who consciously or unconsciously do not use Quran as a sole criterion in preaching Islam.
