ReplyDeletegood effort and strong message with pool in efforts of amitabh ji and ajay a must watch though we all know the naked truth about politics
ReplyDeleteWent with a some expectations from the movie to be like Rang De Basanti or Bhagat Singh.. But was kinda disappointed with it.... The movie starts with advertisements of 5 brands within 5 minutes of the movie including Ultratech Cement, India Gate Basmati Rice etc. It sounded more like a commercial going on for those 5-7 minutes rather than a movie. To talk about the story line, it was totally based on the current happenings of our country, Anna Hazzare, Ramdev Ji etc. But to talk about the acting, Amitabh Ji acted the best as usual... Ajay Devgan played well and so did Kareena.. Disappointing were Arjun Rampal and Amrita Rao.... Amrita Rao was more like a mute character who could have been avoided. Linens are coming back in fashion with Ajay and Kareena wearing all Linens... the straight fit denims have been thrown away replacing by Bell Bottoms... Overall the movie was a one time watch but dont go with a lot of expectations :)
ReplyDeleteLol. Why did the 4.5 stars get knocked off from the Times review? Was it because all other online publications gave this movie 2 or less stars? Personally, I found this movie worth half a watch. Meaning after the Big B goes on a fast, it was sheer Jha drivel rehashed. My WTF moment was when the screen was filled with dadu-mask-clad kids during a sit-in morcha. I also found Manoj Bajpai top notch. Big B came second in line, only 'cos he has done this sorta portrayal a dozen times in the past and can do this even in his coma.
ReplyDeleteBig B-Ajay-Arjun troika Good. Big B stand performance. sincere Request re- Release the movie before 2014 loksabha election as it will have its effect on the vote and lets pray for clean govt. Message to the existing UPA-2 has to be clear. What a coincident its party which was at epicentre for the battle against the british. Now the people of the country have to fight against it
ReplyDeleteThis movie borders on being an insult to the movement it is trying to so capture. Individual performances are brilliant but the characters are disconnected from the audience and theme. A movie made from mind and not the heart. Disappoinyed .
ReplyDeleteReel life Social Reformer Prakash Jha's Satyagraha depict last year's revolution against corruption. Big B , Ajay and Manoj are excellent in acting. Salim-Sulaiman's Music disappoint you and timing of song is awful. One romantic song with Ajay-Kareena has no use in sensible script. Editing was not up to the mark which we can expect from veteran filmmaker.
ReplyDeleteNO DOUBT HE MAKES GOOD MOVIE BUT! IS THERE ANY IMPACT OF IT ON OUR GOVT EVEN IN THE STATE TO WHICH DEAR PRAKASH JHA BELONGS! SO MANY FILMS MADE ON HINDU MUSLIM UNITY AND ON OUR BORDER ISSUES BOTH ARE AS IT IS TILL DATE SINCE 1947 AND 1961. YES FILMS FETCH GOOD MONEY TO THE PRODUCERS DIRECTORS AND ACTORS THAT IS WHAT GIVEN AS NEWS STORY ON FIRST DAY IT GOT MORE THAN 11 CRORES. SO ULTIMATE GOAL IS MAKE MONEY SOME BY DOING CORRUPTION OTHERS BY SHOWING IT ON SCREEN.
ReplyDeleteDo they even purchase ratings of leading newspaper's reviews of a movie.. Or their movie sense has still not been evolved towards sensible and quality cinema. Watched Satyagrah.. A movie full of abrupt & unattached scenes. U guys gave it 4.5 stars... ridiculous. 2 Star, a half star extra for the intention.Period.
ReplyDeleteVOTE is very important weapon given by democracy to every Indian. Use it very precociously and carefully .. Put bad people in politics at the distance.. Good leaders Good India and Good life. That is the message by movie.. Good Movie
ReplyDeleteonce again prakash jha showed all indians that how important it is to through out this govt. out of the system by awekening the indians who are sleeping and do what was done by gandhiji to give freedom to our country. its was fight for throwing out the brutal british govt and its now for the brutal govt UPA 2
ReplyDeleteAn excellent movie highlighting the menace of corruption. Director Prakash Jha hits the bull's eye in terms of showcasing the political cesspool and the strong need and it's current situation of eradicating the venom of Corruption. The larger than life star cast are never disappointing and they have all acted well. The story line is too good and will keep you engrossed from start to finish.
ReplyDeleteThe movie is excellent though some people may find it preachy. The acting is par excellence. This is not a typical masala hindi movie but has a strong message. The movie reflects the disenchantment of the common man with the political class and the current mood of the nation. However the common man needs to rise up and challenge the political class and not take them lying down. Why do we accept corruption, accept poor infrastructure, accept irrational laws and lazy politicians. The long term solution is for the youth and educated people to join politics but in the short run the first step is to raise your voice.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding Coincidences of Words................. Hate has 4 letters so does Love............. Enemies has 7 letters so does Friends........ Lying has 5 so does Truth.................... Negative has 8 so does Positive....... Under has 5 so does Above.................... Cry has 3 letters so does Joy.......... Anger has 5 letters so does Happy....... Right has 5 letters so does Wrong....... Are they by Coincidences?????? It means Life is like a Double edged Sword, We should choose the BETTER SIDE OF LIFE......!! By the way Manmohan has 8 letters and so does Narendra. Choose Wisely!
ReplyDeleteDirector Prakash Jha hits the bull's eye in terms of showcasing the political cesspool and the strong need and it's current situation of eradicating the venom of Corruption. After a spate of flops like "Aarakshan" and "Chakravyuh" (the latter being a well-crafted film), Jha comes up with the film that showcases the worse C's of the Contemporary India: Corruption, Capitalism and Consumerism, having shades of few real life events such as the Chauri Chaura case, Tiannemen Square Massacre, the Self Immolation events and the Anna Hazare movement including films like "Yuva" (Mani Ratnam/2004), "Rang De Basanti" (Rakeysh Mehra/2006) and "Raajneeti"(Jha/2010) . The film is quite slick, but it's few unnecessary songs and even the over duration of few scenes, that hampers the pace of the film, despite having warm and energetic moments. has well layered screenplay (Anjum Rajabali and Jha) which has a brilliant development in terms of an internal anger turning into a mass agitation, with an excellent character establishment and the development of characters played by Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal, loaded with great dialogues. The editing by Santosh Mandal is good and some of the moments are brilliantly edited. The cinematography by Sachin Krishn captures the best of the protests and warm moments in the film. The background music score (Salim Sulaiman) brilliantly graces the film's narration. The Sound Design work by Rakesh Ranjan and the Costume Design work by Mundada matches well with the political scenario. In the performances, Indraneil Sengupta, Girish Sahdev , Vipin Sharma and the rest supporting cast are good and they do proper justice to their respective roles. Arjun Rampal and Amrita Rao are great and bring the best of their political rage through their performances. Kareena Kapoor Khan is good, but somewhere she continues her same melodramatic tone in her performance. Manoj Bajpayee is chilling and killing in his performance. Ajay Devgn returns with his deep intense performance and leaves a great impact with his awesome performance and "Bhaashanbaazi" too. Amitabh Bachchan is simply great and his act will make sure of making you sympathize with every moment having his presence on screen, making you smile and cry with every expression that he gives. Overall, the narration by Jha, despite the song and the over duration track in between, makes the film a must watch for every Indian and to make aware about the need and the cause depicted in the film. My rating would be: 4/ 5
ReplyDeletePrakash Jha is not the director whose movies appeal for 'the fun' in the sense of feeling good by ashraj's Romance' or 'Rohit Shetty's Action Comedy', rather his movies r supposed to deal with issues of common man of contemporary times i.e. Gangajal, Mrityudand, Apahran, Rajneeti and to some extent Chakrvyooh too. With Satyagraha, however, he drastically failed to even touch audience heart, forget about retaining their interest in the movie. Reasons r many: poor story, unnecessary space for item song and romance, several irrelevant actions n reactions, improper dialogues to name a few. Movie, every now and then, reminds that it is a movie; in the sense that it's not lead by characters or incidences. So many things happen leaving unanswered questions creating ambiguity. In other words, realism and originality, what Jha is actually known for is lacking. Most unfortunate part is its plot and the fact that this movies had in it some of the fine artists of contemporary Hindi cinema. Performance alone can't retain audience's interest for two hours. In brief, it asserts that fine script writers r still lacking either or not getting opportunity. Hope, Jha's next compensate for both Satyagrah and Chakrvyooh..!! feel bad for its unique starcast... though all performed well, Amitabh and Manoj stole the show..!!
ReplyDeleteThe movie is good and what makes it a good movie is outstanding performances by the starcast of the film. No words for Amit ji, the scene in which he bends down to touch the road will no doubt touches your heart, he no doubt reaches to the audience as dadu. Ajay devgan once again shows how dedicated an actor he is, the scene when he cries with the an alcohol tin in his hand was quiet natural, he was the soul of the song 'ragupati raghav raja ram'. Another character who make a mark on you is yasmeen acted by kareena as an journalist with an strong ethical thoughts she had improved a lot as an actor. Manoj bajpai is as always class in his act a typical neta with anything to do attitude for his kursi. But as direction the film is not one of prakash jha's best work for sure. Very predictable and story drags in few parts and even runs away too fast in few parts, there is not a single scene which can get you a goosebumps or creates a feeling of inspiration. I think he was unable to show what he intended to in some part of the film. Romantic chemistry was very weak between ajay and kareena, tried to revamp mora piya with rasbhare tere naina. Rajneeti and gangajal are far better when it comes to prakash jha.
ReplyDeleteWhat has was once a great sacred word for India to get swantathara and satyagraha was made by the great M.K.Gandhi, is now become folks of some who made film out of this.Has become a Tamaasha? The meaning of satyagraha is sacrifice and Aamitah bajan satyagragha may heywhile sun shines. If the meaning of trhisgreat word is misspelt thro:s cinemas it is bad and we are includint those leaders who has done satyagraha in early indep[endance period.which is unfortunate
